District Director

I have worked with the Navajo County Library District for five and a half years, serving as District Director for the past four. Throughout my career, I have held a variety of positions across different types of libraries, gaining more than 18 years of comprehensive library experience. My educational background includes a Library Technician certificate, an Associate’s degree in Elementary Education, and a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature. I am currently completing my Master’s in Library and Information Science. I am a committed lifelong learner dedicated to ongoing professional growth.

I have been an avid reader for most of my life, and I am truly passionate about the work libraries do. I am driven by a commitment to providing essential services to our communities, answering challenging questions, and solving problems. Colleagues often refer to me as the “Chaos Coordinator,” a title I proudly embrace.

My husband of 25 years fully supports my “library life,” and together we have six wonderful children and 14 treasured grandchildren. Outside of my professional responsibilities and family time, I care for four cats, one dog, and a thriving garden that keep me equally busy.

Library Operations Supervisor

Hi! I’m Alicia Kumar, the Library Operations Supervisor here at the Navajo County Library District Office. As a lifelong book lover and library enthusiast, I’m thrilled to support the incredible work our libraries do for our communities.

In my role, I help the Director keep our District’s library system running like a well-oiled (and wonderfully book-filled) machine. I help oversee our integrated library system, make sure everything behind the scenes stays smooth and efficient, and lead training across the District to support our amazing staff. Helping our libraries shine is truly one of my favorite things.

Outside of work, I’m gearing up to graduate in May with my Associates of Applied Science degree, focusing on Software and Web Development—proof that you can love books and code! And when I’m not juggling library operations or homework, I’m the proud mom of four beautiful children who ensure that life is always exciting (and never, ever quiet).

Known as Lou to my nearest and dearest, I’m a born and raised nerdy bookworm! It is with tremendous gratitude that my life’s journey has returned me to one of my undying passions, library work.  I’m fluent in English and movie quotes. My brain is positively crammed with useless trivia and bizarre facts. I possess a dark sense of humor and an extremely loud voice.  I am the Lead Library Technician at NCLD, which means I am always BUSY! I process and catalogue books for our volunteer and tribal libraries, maintain and curate our rotating collections, repair damaged items, and help maintain our website and catalog.

My name is Shannon Wilson. I am the Digital Literacy Technician for Navajo County Library District. I help community members build confidence with technology by teaching digital literacy classes and offering one-on-one support at local library branches. As a courier, I also make sure library materials—like books on hold—get where they need to go, delivering them to branches all across Navajo County so everyone has access to the resources they need.
